7 Things I've Stopped Spending Money on Since Wine No Longer Dictates My Choices.

  1. The extra afternoon coffee. Because I actually get proper sleep at night and don't feel like I want to crawl into a big hole and die at 2 PM.

  1. Missed workout gym class penalties. Because now, unless I consciously choose extra rest instead, I make my workout classes. And enjoy them!

  1. Vitamin supplements for extra energy. I get that from sleep and doing workouts I like.

  1. Melatonin. Because I fall and stay asleep just fine now most of the time.

  1. Extra trips to the doctor and medicine for when I am sick and rundown. Barely happens anymore. Not because I am the pillar of health and wellness but because I am not ingesting a toxic, sleep-disrupting carcinogen on a regular basis. My immune system functions pretty darn well without that little factor.

  1. Expensive under-eye cream. The bags vanished with sobriety.

  1. The cheeky packet of cigarettes. Because, yes, after three or four drinks on a night out, I was begging for one. (I could go on here about why it's BANANAS that cigarettes are seen as so much "worse" for us than drinking when they are the number two and three preventable causes of death, respectively, in the USA. But for some wild reason, drinking is considered socially acceptable (necessary?), and cigarettes are now taboo.)
  2.

Alright, babe, it's your turn. What's one thing you no longer spend money on now that you're not drinking???
